Last Updated: 6 October 2026
1. About this notice
PurpleCare helps participating healthcare organisations provide patients with connected digital access to healthcare services and information.
Depending on the services enabled by your healthcare organisation, PurpleCare may allow you to access or interact with information such as:
- Appointments
- Healthcare reports and diagnostic results
- Consultation and visit information
- Prescriptions
- Investigation information
- Follow-up information
- Health and wellbeing information
- Virtual consultations
- Community and educational content
- Other information associated with your healthcare journey
This notice explains how to use health and medical information available through PurpleCare appropriately.
It should be read alongside the PurpleCare Patient App & Digital Services Terms of Use, PurpleCare Privacy Policy, and any information or instructions provided by your healthcare organisation.
2. PurpleCare supports healthcare. It does not replace it.
PurpleCare is a digital healthcare experience and operations platform developed by Purple Crayola.
PurpleCare helps healthcare organisations make services and information more accessible to patients.
Purple Crayola does not provide medical care through PurpleCare.
PurpleCare does not independently:
- Diagnose medical conditions
- Determine whether you have a particular illness
- Decide what treatment you should receive
- Prescribe medication
- Interpret a healthcare report for you
- Replace a doctor or other appropriately qualified healthcare professional
- Provide emergency medical services
Clinical decisions remain the responsibility of appropriately qualified healthcare professionals and the healthcare organisations providing your care.
3. Healthcare information available through PurpleCare
Healthcare information displayed through PurpleCare may originate from:
- Your healthcare organisation
- Healthcare professionals involved in your care
- Laboratory or diagnostic services
- Connected clinical systems
- Other healthcare systems authorised by your healthcare organisation
PurpleCare provides a digital environment through which eligible information can be made available to you.
The presence of information in PurpleCare does not mean that Purple Crayola has independently reviewed, verified or clinically interpreted that information.
If you believe information displayed through PurpleCare is incorrect or incomplete, contact your healthcare organisation.
4. Reports and diagnostic results
PurpleCare may allow you to access healthcare reports and diagnostic results that your healthcare organisation has made available to you.
A report may contain medical terminology, measurements or findings that require professional interpretation.
Do not make significant healthcare decisions based only on your own interpretation of a report or diagnostic result.
If you have questions about:
- What a result means
- Whether a result is normal or abnormal
- Whether further investigation is required
- Whether treatment is required
- Whether an existing treatment should change
contact an appropriately qualified healthcare professional.
A report not appearing in PurpleCare does not necessarily mean that:
- The investigation was not performed
- No result exists
- The result is normal
- No further action is required
Reports may only become available after they have been processed and released according to your healthcare organisation’s procedures.
5. Urgent and emergency care
PurpleCare is not an emergency medical service.
Do not rely on:
- PurpleCare messages
- Community posts
- Notifications
- Virtual-care requests
- Appointment requests
- Privacy or support requests
- Health summaries
- Other PurpleCare functionality
to obtain emergency medical assistance.
If you believe that you or another person may require urgent or emergency medical attention, contact the appropriate emergency service or seek urgent medical assistance through the channels available in your location.
Do not wait for a response through PurpleCare where immediate medical attention may be required.
6. Prescriptions and medication
Where prescription functionality is available, PurpleCare may display medication or prescription information associated with your healthcare journey.
PurpleCare does not independently prescribe medication.
Always follow the instructions provided by the appropriately qualified healthcare professional responsible for your care.
Do not start, stop, increase, reduce or otherwise change prescribed medication solely because of information displayed in PurpleCare unless an appropriately qualified healthcare professional has instructed you to do so.
If PurpleCare displays information that appears inconsistent with instructions you have received from your healthcare professional, contact your healthcare organisation before making a change.
7. Health summaries and wellbeing information
Where enabled, PurpleCare may allow you to view, record or synchronise health and wellbeing information.
This may include supported information such as:
- Steps
- Active minutes
- Sleep duration
- Resting heart rate
- Weight
- Health goals
- Related trends and summaries
These features are intended to help you engage with and understand aspects of your health information.
Unless your healthcare organisation expressly provides otherwise, they are not intended to provide diagnosis, continuous medical monitoring or emergency detection.
8. Information from devices and connected health services
Some health information may originate from:
- Your mobile device
- A wearable device
- An operating-system health service
- Another supported health-data source
The accuracy and availability of this information can depend on:
- The device being used
- How the device is worn or configured
- Device sensors
- User-entered information
- Synchronisation
- Permissions
- The third-party service providing the information
PurpleCare cannot guarantee that device-derived information is complete or clinically accurate.
Do not rely solely on consumer-device measurements where professional medical assessment is required.
9. Health goals
PurpleCare may allow you to establish and review personal health goals.
Health goals are intended to support engagement with your health and wellbeing.
They do not constitute a medical prescription or treatment plan unless they have been specifically established as part of care provided by an appropriately qualified healthcare professional.
If you have a medical condition, are pregnant, are recovering from treatment or have another reason to be uncertain whether a health goal is appropriate, seek professional advice before making a significant change to your activity or health routine.
10. Virtual consultations
Where telemedicine is enabled, PurpleCare may provide access to a virtual consultation or to a virtual-care service used by your healthcare organisation.
Virtual care may not be appropriate for every medical need.
A healthcare professional may determine that you require:
- A physical examination
- An in-person consultation
- Further investigation
- Emergency assessment
- Another form of care
The availability of a virtual appointment does not mean that remote care is clinically appropriate for every condition.
If your condition becomes urgent before or during a virtual consultation, seek appropriate urgent or emergency care.
11. Community health information
PurpleCare Community may contain discussions about health, healthcare and personal experiences.
Unless information is clearly identified as being provided by an appropriately authorised healthcare professional in an appropriate professional context, Community content should not be treated as medical advice.
Another person’s experience may not apply to you.
Do not use a Community post as the sole basis for:
- Diagnosing yourself
- Diagnosing another person
- Starting or stopping medication
- Changing treatment
- Delaying professional care
- Interpreting a healthcare report
- Deciding that medical attention is unnecessary
Community content is moderated for compliance with Community rules. This does not constitute clinical review, verification of medical accuracy or endorsement by Purple Crayola or your healthcare organisation.
Unsafe or concerning Community content can be reported through the available reporting process.
12. Artificial intelligence and automated information
Where PurpleCare introduces automated, algorithmic or artificial-intelligence-assisted functionality, any health-related output should be understood according to the purpose and limitations communicated with that feature.
Unless explicitly approved and presented for a regulated clinical purpose, automated information should not be treated as an independent diagnosis, prescription or replacement for professional medical judgement.
Where professional interpretation is appropriate, consult an appropriately qualified healthcare professional.
13. Notifications and reminders
PurpleCare may provide:
- Appointment reminders
- Report notifications
- Medication-related communications where enabled
- Care updates
- Other service notifications
Notifications are intended to support your healthcare journey.
Delivery may be affected by:
- Internet connectivity
- Mobile-network availability
- Device settings
- Notification permissions
- Email or SMS providers
- Incorrect or outdated contact information
- Other technical factors
Do not rely on a PurpleCare notification as the sole mechanism for managing urgent or time-critical healthcare needs.
14. Your responsibility for information you provide
Where PurpleCare allows you to enter or submit information relating to your health or healthcare, provide information that is accurate to the best of your knowledge.
Incomplete or inaccurate information may affect the service provided by your healthcare organisation.
If information changes or you discover that information you provided was incorrect, update it where PurpleCare allows you to do so or notify your healthcare organisation where appropriate.
15. Family and delegated access
If you use PurpleCare to manage aspects of another patient’s healthcare journey, you should use that access responsibly.
Information available through another patient’s profile relates to that person’s healthcare.
Do not:
- Make clinical decisions beyond the authority you have been given
- Share that person’s healthcare information unnecessarily
- Publish their information in Community without appropriate authority
- Present yourself as the patient when interacting with healthcare professionals
PurpleCare can distinguish between the patient whose profile is being managed and the authenticated person acting on their behalf.
16. When to speak to your healthcare organisation
Contact your healthcare organisation if you:
- Do not understand a healthcare report
- Believe information in PurpleCare is incorrect
- Cannot find a result you expected to receive
- Have questions about medication
- Need advice about treatment
- Need to change a healthcare appointment outside the available digital options
- Have concerns about your symptoms
- Need clarification about follow-up care
- Have questions about your medical record
- Need healthcare advice that PurpleCare itself cannot provide
PurpleCare helps make the healthcare relationship more connected. It does not replace that relationship.
17. Health information and privacy
Health information can be sensitive.
PurpleCare uses technical and organisational controls designed to protect healthcare and personal information.
Further information about how health and personal information may be collected, used, shared, retained and protected is available in the PurpleCare Privacy Policy.
Where PurpleCare connects to device health services, access is subject to the permissions you choose to provide.
Purple Crayola does not sell health information processed through PurpleCare and does not use healthcare or health information processed through PurpleCare for third-party advertising.
18. Changes to this notice
This notice may be updated as PurpleCare’s health-related functionality develops or where healthcare, legal, regulatory or application-store requirements change.
Where a change is material, appropriate notice will be provided where required.
